As we enter 2010, the Elders of Central wanted to again publish the doctrinal positions of Central for its members, the many other people who receive our bulletin, and those who visit our web site.
Central is the church where the Bible leads the way.

The Bible is inspired by God and is our only source of authority in every religious matter.

The Church of Christ is the church revealed in the New Testament.

According to the scriptures, a person is not accepted into the kingdom of God until he has obeyed the teaching of the gospel on how to become a Christian. When this is completed, he is added to the church.

We are saved by the grace of God through our obedience to God’s commands.

To be forgiven of past sins, one must believe, repent, confess, and be baptized. Scriptural baptism must include immersion.

A person must understand that baptism is for the remission of sins, before they can have a scriptural baptism.

Grace covers those who have obeyed the gospel and are walking in truth.

The Holy Spirit speaks and operates only through the Word of God, and not in some miraculous way such as visions and other means.

God calls us today to be saved and to serve, only through the Word of God.

The Lord’s Supper is to be observed on every first day of the week and only at that time.

Worship is to focus on God, not man, and must be both reverent and uplifting.

Hand clapping during the worship services is without Biblical authority.

Instrumental music in worship is unscriptural.

Special singing such as solos, choirs, etc., during worship is without Biblical authority.

The primary work of the church if saving souls through evangelism, edification, and benevolent work. The church’s role is not to grow by focusing on entertainment in its worship services.

It is scriptural to deal with a controversial Biblical subject from the pulpit.

It is possible for a child of God to sin and be lost. Failure to repent of sin leaves one in sin and sin separates one from God.

All Christians should attend all worship services if possible.

The only scriptural cause for divorce is sexual immorality (adultery, fornication). Only the innocent party has the scriptural right to remarry. If one does not have the scriptural right to remarry and does so, they are living in sin. In order to repent and obey the gospel, repentance would demand coming out of the unscriptural marriage.

Abortions are contrary to scripture.

Homosexuality is sin.

Drinking and gambling are sinful in the sight of God.

The church must oppose false teachers and those classified as “change agents.”

Denominationalism is contrary to God’s Word.

When Christ comes again, he is not going to set up a kingdom and reign over it for 1000 years.

The theory of evolution is contrary to the teaching of the Bible.

It is not scriptural for women to take a leadership role in the worship service when Christian men are present.

The church has the scriptural responsibility to exercise discipline upon members of the church who will not repent of their sins. This discipline is to encourage them to repent of their wrong doings.

The elders have authority to enforce doctrinal and other matters pertaining to the work of the local congregation.

The primary function of the elders is that of shepherding the flock and all spiritual concerns of the church.

It is not scriptural for the church to have car washes, yard sales, etc., to raise money for the work of the church.

The church can support orphan homes and Christian schools out of the church treasury.

Preaching that is pleasing to God involves both the love and fear of God.
